If what you are after is more Titan Quest then this is exactly that, and some slight polish issues aside it’s an enjoyable time.Hi All, I thought I'd share with you my favorite build from the new tweaks put in in the Atlantis Expansion.īasic Aim of the build: Vitality damage and life leech It doesn’t drastically change the experience, but gives you new places to explore, new weapons and armour to collect and new enemies to murder. Just like Ragnarök, Titan Quest: Atlantis is a solid expansion to the game. Another small addition includes the long requested Quick Cast function which allows casting targeted spells where your cursor is rather than requiring you to supply a target after using them. The game itself has received a few tweaks, with a couple of new graphical options like Ambient Occlusion, that adds visible shade where objects meet, and a Colour Grading option that enhances the contrast and helps the colours pop. This occurred to me on stair tiles in a few of the areas in Tartarus, I could get back out again so it’s not game-breaking but it’s definitely a concern, hopefully these will be patched soon. Some areas in the map had holes in their collision, allowing me to “fall” behind the scenery. Tartarus is the only area where I discovered some polish issues though. Like the main game, this can also be played with up to six players cooperatively which is always a good time. This is certainly an unexpected addition but definitely welcome as having more diversity in your options when it comes to monster murder is always welcome. After surviving each set of enemies you’ll take on a boss and then choose to either accept a reward or gamble it to keep going for the chance of better loot. It sees you facing off against multiple waves of enemies with each wave having random modifiers applied to keep things interesting. Some of the new options feel a little lacklustre but overall the new active skills are interesting and enable interesting new options for building a character.Īs well as providing the new Atlantis campaign, it also adds a wave-based survival mode that takes place in the depths of Tartarus that you can attempt at any time. The Warfare mastery for example gets a new attack, Slam, that strikes all foes in front of them and also gets Lasting Legacy which can extend the lifetime for the ancestral warriors summoned via the Ancestral Horn skill. Typically a mix of both active and passive perks, these additions give you a new attack or ability to consider when building your character whilst also adding something new to a signature skill. Unlike the previous expansion, Atlantis doesn’t bring with it a new mastery, Titan Quest’s take on classes, but it does add a new tier of skill for all existing masteries for a total of 20 new skills. There are a surprising amount of new enemy types for you to kill as you fight your way to Atlantis as well which also helps keep things moving. The environment variety alone makes just seeing the next area pull you from one encounter to the next. It’s not a huge campaign, especially compared to Ragnarök, but it is a more interesting one to experience. The campaign adds half a dozen new zones ranging from the sun bleached stone and buildings of Gadir to the red sand of the Atlas Mountains and the jungles and temples of Atlantis itself. The new campaign is accessible from just outside Rhodes, a friendly NPC named Marinos starting your odyssey by sending you on the hunt for the Journal of Herakles which details the whereabouts of the mythical landmass. Once again developed by Pieces Interactive, who were responsible for the previous expansion Ragnarök, it’s a little more focused than their previous entry. Launching content for the almost 13-year-old action RPG seemingly out of nowhere is becoming a recurring theme for THQ Nordic with the release of Titan Quest: Atlantis mimicking the similarly out of nowhere release of their previous expansion Titan Quest: Ragnarök.Ītlantis, unsurprisingly, takes our intrepid hero on an adventure across the Mediterranean to the legendary island as you click your way through hordes of enemies. All little things that seem like a standard to uphold in general. A lot of the wooden furniture was just in need of sanding and re-staining to just make it look nice. The tub didn’t drain so the shower filled up past your ankles (yuck) and the sprinkler head was just falling out of the ceiling and looked terrible. The stairwells were is need of vacuuming, our room was not that clean and dust build up along the mop boards, edges, and corners. We weren’t looking by any means, just noticed. This ended up being a continued thought the rest of our time. When we got inside, we did take the elevator with our bags- I instantly thought it could just use a quick paint job to spruce it up, and the floors for sure could be swept or vacuumed. It was a great way to see all of the outside grounds and walk around the back courtyard- very tastefully decorated! The grounds are beautiful! Valet would have been nice, but not a big deal by any means as we both just had a bag. We do not mind spending money on nice places and this was for sure on my bucket list.Ĭheck in was easy, and the young man training was doing a great job. Let me say, I very much enjoy a new and nice hotel, but also appreciate the charm of an older place like this. On rare occasions, a Cloudcuckoolander may become Bored with Insanity and become more normal. When their weirdness delves into a disturbing territory, they have taken a job as a Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant. This character will often be a Granola Girl or New-Age Retro Hippie. This is probably why there are so many Webcomics examples. Even in a series with a little more structure overall, the Cloudcuckoolander's wacky and bizarre antics will often be used for an easy gag, particularly when paired with a straight foil to drive insane. This character is a mainstay of Surreal Humor, Dada Comics, Widget Series, and Word-Salad Humor. and because imagination often runs wild, they tend to be Easily Impressed. Many Cloudcuckoolanders can be highly intelligent, very insightful or even geniuses, it's just the things they sometimes say and do may come off as weird, awkward, clumsy, over-the-top, buffoonish, illogical and questionable, outright eccentric, goofy, etc. It should be noted that, though they may overlap with The Ditz, The Fool, or the Kindhearted Simpleton, a Cloudcuckoolander, by definition, isn't necessarily stupid. And has a weakness for falling into a Wiki Walk. Certainly, many of them get away with a good deal no one else would be allowed. It's not like the dead guy cares, is it? Likewise, they would fail to understand the reason for wearing shoes in a public place (it's warm and cozy, so why not go barefoot?) or using the pronoun "I" when referring to yourself (you use other people's names when speaking about them, so why not use your own name when you speak about yourself?)įrequently clips entire stacks of Weirdness Coupons from the paper. They will never understand what your problem is. Sit down with a Cloudcuckoolander and try to explain to them that normal people don't wear the clothes of a dead man. They often come off as naïve, innocent and Sarcasm-Blind, so when they suddenly come up with snarky quips and witticisms, it may be one of the first indications that they are much more insightful than they seem ( or even deliberately pretend) to be.Īnother notable mark is that often there is nothing actually wrong with what they do, but it is most assuredly not something a normal person would do. In any event, they can be oddly endearing. Unfortunately, when they are smart, nobody else is, and when they are not, everybody else is. In other words, a Cloudcuckoolander has massive knowledge and understanding of the workings of the universe, but a poor way of communicating that to everyone else. One mark of a Cloudcuckoolander is when, 90% of the time, you think the character is just plain nuts, but 10% of the time, you suspect that the character is in fact the Only Sane Man on the show. They also talk like they're nuts as well by a speech pattern. They lapse into non sequitur a lot, and while they aren't totally insane, they act it much more than some other crazier characters. Maybe he's one of Those Two Guys or the crazy member of the Comic Trio. They are far more likely to be the Plucky Comic Relief because of how much of a goofball they are. A psychiatrist is the man who collects the rent." - Jerome LawrenceĬloudcuckoolanders are rarely malicious. The concept is well known, as in this joke: "A neurotic is a man who builds a castle in the air. Sometimes also called "Space Case" or "Space Cadet", or plain old "Strange", a cuckoo clock chime is used as an indicator of one. They make totally unintentional double entendres, and are great for Getting Crap Past the Radar. They may have an argument with themselves for fun, make points in an argument with no basis in logic or reality, or tell rambling stories that have nothing to do with the point they're trying to make. They are very cheerful and strangely oblivious to things that everyone else takes for granted. A character with their head in the clouds. People slamming the narrative with the heroine not being 'standard gamer heroine'. It's a shame it got so much bad press, and I don't really recommend it for it's RRP, but 50% or more on sale? yeah I heartily recommend for anyone curious, try the demo - it's mid game, but that's mostly so you can muck around with stuff.įor further info the 'bad press' on this came from 3 places mostly Overall, though, from chasing cats to saving the world, I really did find this 'fun'. It felt like it didn't really need to be in the game, but that one is just me, the system itself is fine, it just felt like it was.tagged on. for the 'main story' and scripted events the dialogue is perfectly fine. The bit I was a litttttle bit tired of was the fact that you only hear Frey and her sidekick most of the time when you're out exploring which isn't that bad until you're 30 hours in and realise you heard all the lines already when stumbling into a fight or a ruin or whatever, and kinda wishing you could turn them off. If you don't like exploring the world - if you didn't enjoy BOTW as a big mostly empty expanse with spare enemies to fight and points of interest to visit and subdue or pray at or take pictures at or what have you.maybe give this one a pass.įor story reasons you are largle you are largely out there on your own, just you and your sidekick which leads me to the (*) on dialogue. Like watching a Marvel movie or what have you. It did mean I was shorn a surprise but even knowing what was to come the execution was good enough it was still enjoyable. The overall story and it's twists and turns are internally consistent - enough that most of the major beats I predicted, but in that satisfying way, rather than 'this was entirely mundane and dull'. The dialogue is actually pretty decent(*) and The combat is actually pretty decent and the different enemies and schools of magic rewards you enough that, even though you couuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuld one trick your way through the game, you don't really want to, which entices you then to try out entire spell trees, once you found your build per tree you don't tend to waiver from it but I'd wager that that build is different for different people. The parkour is actually really fun, once the world opens up to you it's actually quite fun to just go explore. Thoroughly, and recommend it overall - it has a few shortcomings, and ironically, those are mostly the shortcomings you see in Breath of The Wild. It's part BOTW, part Spiderman, part Alice in Wonderland, with a dose of originality too. I would then like to perform DropDMG to create an encrypted DMG from that sparseimage that SD! created. Additionally I setup SD! to automatically create a sparseimage of my backup using its scheduled backup function. Similar to the TO I backup my data to an external F/W-drive using SuperDuper!. Although the backup data is being encrypted at the Mozy servers, for my peace of mind I’d feel more comfortable with my data being securely encrypted before uploading them. I am currently evaluating on how DropDMG could master my aim to securely (double)-backup my files onto an online-backup storage at Mozy. The TO seemed to have a similar approach backing up his data. The privileges have been verified or repaired on the selected volumeĪny light you can shed on this one would be this would be appreciated.Īutomate DropDMG for secure Online-BackupĪfter searching the forums this thread seemed to fit my concern most. , should be drwxrwxr-t, they are drwxr-xr-x One other note, when I was booted to the disk I restored the image to I ran a repair permissions to see what it would tell me. Do you have any idea what this was about? I am a little wary about the Finder warning about the image. I still have the original sparse image that SuperDuper created and it mounts just fine (and rather quickly too) so there’s no issue with the source of the DropDMG conversion. I was able to boot to the firewire drive and my system came up so it appears to have worked. I was then able to use Disk Utility to restore from the open image to the firewire drive. I told it to go ahead and it actually mounted the image. When it got through the lengthy process of opening it gave me an alert box with “Disk image you are opening may be damaged” and should it proceed. It was failing with a nondescript error so instead I just used the Finder to mount the image. I rebooted and then tried to use Disk Utility to restore the compressed image to a firewire drive. Using the Zlib compression only 1.5 hours rather than 3 hours with Bzip2. I could see from the SuperDuper log that my shell script unmounted the sparse image and that DropDMG did it’s thing. What settings do I need to use for DropDMG to get this same, one-step compressed dmg functionality? With Disk Utility it will create the compressed dmg reasonably quickly in one step. Not only does this take a lot of disk space, it also takes a long time to complete. I started the DropDMG processes again from the Terminal and now I see what’s happening: DropDMG first creates an uncompressed dmg file and then as a separate step it creates a compressed version. There was 70gb+ on the target disk and the compressed dmg should only be about 30gb. I went ahead and had it do the full backup last night but in the morning I found that DropDMG encountered this error:Įrror 1 - hdiutil: convert failed - No space left on device for “Backup” SuperDuper did the backup and was able to run the shell script and DropDMG did it’s thing. I had run some small tests and everything was working fine. The config “systembackup” creates a “.dmg bzip-compressed” image and I’ve got the ecryption passphrase set in there. I’m now using SuperDuper to create the initial backup and then I have it run a shell script when it completes. I’m trying to automate the process so I can just let it run overnight. I’ve got my boot drive backed up and the data is encrypted so that it’s secure off site. I’ve been using this procedure for about a year and it’s worked out well.
